Leica Store San Francisco is excited to invite you to our first Photo Zine Fair! Join us on Saturday, November 4th from 10am to 3pm to celebrate photography, photo zines, and meet others who are a part of the SF Bay Area photo community. We have invited many local publishers, artists, and designers with an emphasis on photographic arts to offer their latest publications for sale in the form of photo zines, books, and more.

Leica SL System Demo Day with Ray Olson

November 11th, 2023

Join us on Saturday, November 11 for a celebration of Leica photography, highlighting Leica’s SL camera system.

Leica Specialist Ray Olson will be on hand to demo the system, answer your questions and take you out on the streets of Chinatown to test out the camera system. On hand will be the full range of autofocus lenses for you to try including one of the the latest optics that Leica has released, the SL 14-24mm f2.8 Super-Vario-Elmarit-SL.

This will be a fun engaging event to meet others in the photo community and to better understand how you can benefit from using the Leica SL.

Don’t forget to bring a standard SD card so you can review your photos following the event.

Coffee and pastries will be served in the morning.

[OPENING RECEPTION] Darcy Padilla: The Weight of Time

Leica Store San Francisco Gallery is pleased to announce our upcoming exhibition, The Weight of Time, featuring photographs by Darcy Padilla. Comprising nearly forty mostly unseen photographs chosen from her extensive projects, this collection takes viewers on a journey through San Francisco streets and the landscapes of Pine Ridge prairies.The photographs, made locally and abroad, examine the photographic values of context, emotion and time.

The gallery will host a public reception with the artist on Thursday, November 16th, from 5-8pm.

Photography Workshop With Darcy Padilla

Leica Store San Francisco is excited to announce a unique one-day workshop with Agence VU' photographer and educator Darcy Padilla (her last workshop was in 2019). The goal of this workshop is to help photographers in finding their personal vision to produce a meaningful portfolio or body of work. Whether you are beginning or professional; starting, working or finishing a project. Photographers will receive in-depth critiques, constructive discussion, and photographic references to further their work. This will be an engaging day of photography and a great way to get to know others in the photo community.

Zine Making Workshop With Mark Murrmann

December 2-3, 2023

Getting your photography out into the world - off a computer screen and into someone's hands - doesn't have to be an expensive or time-consuming process. Self-publishing a small book, or zine, of your photos has never been easier. Whether used as a first foray into a larger publishing project, a one-off way to launch a body of work or a regular exercise as part of your photographic process, making a zine offers a versatile and fun way to get your work published.

Leica Store San Francisco is excited to host a two-day workshop this fall in collaboration with photographer and photo editor Mark Murrmann. This hands-on workshop will explore the fundamentals of photo zine making.

Michelin Star Photography: A Food Photography Experience with Jim Sullivan

February 17-18, 2024

Join us for a weekend at the Michelin star restaurant Mister Jiu's and their cocktail bar Moongate lounge, as we take you into the world of Food Photography with professional food photographer, Jim Sullivan.

Led by Chef Brandon and his team, we will have exclusive access to behind the scenes of this Michelin star restaurant during the workshop. Participants will get to photograph a professional kitchen as it prepares for service.

Jim will help you understand the aspects of food photography, the concepts and the techniques used in creating this art form. He will also be covering the business skills needed to be a successful freelance food photographer. Leading the workshop with his Leica SL2, Jim will teach this workshop and connect participants with professionals across the industry.

While on location at each location, Jim will walk you through his usual set up and style of working. In addition, he will teach you how professional kitchens are run and how to work with the team.
