Thumbprints & Signatures: The Leica 35mm f2 APO Summicron-M
Today in Thumbprint & Signatures; a series that highlights the unique visual signature of Leica lenses, new and old, we are featuring the Leica 35mm f2 APO Summicron-M.
This new take on the Leica 35mm Summicron brings the lens to a whole new level with its close focus ability and APO correction. The newly designed lens allows the focus tab to rotate past 0.7 meters for a new close focus of up to 0.3 (11") meters and a focus throw of 300°, a first for any M rangefinder lens. The apochromatic lens elements render vivid colors, increased contrast without loss of image tonality, and sharp images wide open or stopped down. The combination of these additions creates an entirely new photographing experience by unlocking more creative possibilities elevating this lens to a class of its own.
