The black-chrome finish design version of the Summilux-M 50 mm f/1.4 ASPH. is exceptional and exclusive. The matte black look model is made of solid brass. The traditional design is inspired by its predecessor from 1959 and reflects its typical features, such as the scalloped focusing ring and a finely knurled aperture ring. In addition, the feet scale design is in red. Furthermore, a round metal lens hood and a metal lens cap are also included in the package.
Handling and Operation
Built to accommodate an image angle that likens itself to the human eye the 50mm Summilux-M F/1.4 ASPH will be useful for just about any photographic situation. Known for its extremely wide maximum aperture the 50mm Summilux-M is the perfect lens for available light shooting. When combined with Leica’s newer CMOS sensors the 50mm Summilux-M is a powerful lowlight tool. The Summilux-M also excels at subject separation and image compression for those “dreamy” out of focus backgrounds and almost three dimensional subjects.

The 50mm Summilux-M F/1.4 renders images with natural colors, fantastic sharpness, and high contrast. The Summilux-M also features floating real element making close focusing easier and sharpening frame edges. The Summilux-M also features an aspherical lens giving the Summilux-M lenses the least amount of optical issues such as aberrations which are common in some fast primes.
